Software Engineer II

Job Description

o   Develop and maintain software development project plans.

o   Effectively manage project schedules by communicating project work load, executing these planned activities, and coordinating with the larger project team. 

o   Plans and executes software team meetings (i.e. peer reviews, code reviews, etc.)

o   Works closely with Design Lead, Software Lead, Design Control Lead, and project managers to ensure compliance to Acelity/ KCI software development procedures and software standards.

o   Develops, implements, and tests embedded medical device software  in a manner compliant with quality processes.

o   Places a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and cost effective innovation through new and improved technologies and innovative processes.

Software Development

o   The Software Engineer I develops and maintains software development documents, including plans, requirements specifications, and designs. Documents shall be compliant to internal processes and regulatory requirements.

o   Provide technical assistance to Quality and Engineering groups throughout the early production builds and launch.

o   Uses current industry standards (e.g. ISO, IEEE, CMMI) when developing test software.


o   Supports the training of new software technicians to Acelity/ KCI software verification processes.

o   Trains technicians to new test methods, including use of tools/ fixtures.

o   Training production as part of project launch may also be required.


o   Maintains quality results by keeping metrics.

•    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related activities as needed.

o   Conform to and support Company policies and procedures.

o   Perform other duties as assigned by lead or Software Manager.
